Sunburn

I was a quiet landscape before you

A single purposed bird

Illimitably moving

Towards – color

A consciousness

Where nothing is taken

Nothing is given

And still the earth opens

As if it cannot bear to remain one

I loved you here

Long after the sun withdrew its hand

There is a stillness here that doesn’t feel empty…
it feels already whole, even before anything begins.

“I was a quiet landscape before you”—
    as if nothing was missing,
and yet something quietly started moving.

    Not because it had to.
    Not because it was asked.

    Just… toward color.

What stays with me is how nothing is taken,
    nothing is given—
    and still, something opens.

As if some encounters belong to a deeper order,
one we don’t get to measure or explain.

    And that last line…
    it doesn’t close the poem.

    It keeps it alive.

Thank you for leaving a space where something remains—
long after the light has gone.

You’ve just decoded every layer in me. It feels explosively good and yet fearful. In one of those seasons when one person has a chokehold on every sentiment.
Truly loved this. Smiling from the inside out; you get me, thank you 🥰
