Oxygen & Light

I surrender to the sun
while the birds sing recklessly
through the trees
like they are drunk on oxygen and light

The swing moves softly beneath me
The breeze slips across my legs
the side of my face
warm and cool at once
touching me
with both hands

And suddenly
the whole afternoon feels romantic

the wind
the creaking wood
the gold light spilling through leaves
like heaven forgetting to close a door

For once
I do not want anything more
than this
